Yesterday Apple announced their creation and release of Apple Vision Pro to the world during the WWDC23. Taking the world by storm, the Apple Vision Pro has incredible new technology backing its extraordinary experiences.

Lets talk Tech
The Vision Pro is Apple’s first Spatial computer, where your reality and digital content meet. The device embodies a single piece of three-dimensionally formed laminated glass that effortlessly blends into an aluminium alloy frame that curves gently around your face for a comfortable and secure fit. It has a dual-chip design incorporating two very powerful chips; the M2 and a new R1 chip. The M2 delivers Mac-like computing power, while the R1 ensures real-time sensor processing and minimises latency of up to 12 milliseconds. This device runs on visionOS, Apple’s first Spatial Operating System. The custom micro-OLED display has 23 million pixels, delivering a clear and crisp display. Vision Pro has high-performance eye tracking, allowing you to navigate with your eyes while protecting your information from third parties. It also has head and hand tracking enabling the device to understand hand gestures, allowing you to select with your fingertips and much more. Regarding privacy and security, Apple has drawn from their foundation of existing privacy and security and uses new technology like Optic ID, which scans your Unique Iris.
Favourite Features
With Vision Pro, your apps live in your space. This transforms how you use your favourite apps, allowing them to be arranged anywhere, scaled to the perfect size, and enabling you to move between them with a simple glance. The features range from business to pleasure, starting with what excited me the most
Workspace: Vision Pro technology allows you to free up your desk and have your apps virtually in front of you. You can arrange them and customise your view to what suits you best. Not only does it allow you to work on 2D digital content, but it also allows you to view and manipulate 3D content from any angle.
Meetings and Presentations: FaceTime and virtual meetings become spacial. You can have virtual meetings while using this device which displays video windows of each contact on the call. Want to share a presentation? No problem; it displays your shared content allowing you to present as if your presentation was in person. Vision Pro uses facial technology to render a video to your contacts as there is no camera physically on your face, and you have the device on you.

Virtual cinema: Yesterday, Apple and Disney announced their partnership so that you can not only watch content from Apple TV, but you can also watch your favourite movies and series from Disney+. You can choose from making your surroundings feel like a cinema, staying connected to your actual space, or completely changing your surroundings to whatever you want.
Photo and Video: The powerful cameras and 3-D spatial recognition allow you to capture special moments that you can play back later. It almost feels as if you are looking into a window of your memories.
Vision Pro can become a virtual travel buddy because it is backed by a powerful micro-OLED display and 3-D special recognition; you can turn any space into whatever you want. Want to see the Eifel Tower or Northern Lights? Your imagination can come to life right before your eyes, almost making you feel like you are actually there.
From a UX design perspective, they have taken years of research with regards to fit and comfort from their wearables, such as the Apple Watch and Apple Headphones and created a sleek yet comfortable wearable that fits in perfectly with the rest of the Apple device family. I may be speaking for myself, but I am a sucker for matching my Apple devices. They took care to increase the learnability of their new product by giving it a familiar feel when it comes to some of the navigation, apps and how they are displayed. I appreciate their attention to the finer details by creating the illusion of app dimension, app reaction to light, and an illusion that the apps cast a shadow, making it feel like the apps are not virtually but literally in front of you.
Is it magic, is it a hologram, or are we just living in the future? As Apple continues to innovate and shape the future of technology, the Vision Pro stands as a testament to their dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. With its blend of advanced technology, design, and usability, it’s clear that the Vision Pro is not just a product but an experience, one that challenges our perception of the digital and physical world, transforming them into a singular, interactive space. Apple are not only known for their bold statements but that they follow through. So I will leave you with this, it is “the most advanced personal electronics device ever.” – Apple Inc.
